Yu-Kan-Do™ Shotokan Karate and Fitness
Fine Art Pottery and Wood Crafts
As we
are both Black Belts and
before
closing our Shotokan Karate School in Holly Springs, MS in 2001, we developed what
we call the Yu-Kan-Do™
Shotokan Karate System. With our system, you can achieve your Black Belt certification at home. We
have a unique testing program that allows us to view your progress. Each
Video/DVD is just like you were in our Dojo taking a class. You will
practice the blocks, kicks, punches appropriate for that level along with the
requirements such as kata. "Check out our
Specials and Save Money!"
If
you are just wanting to get into or stay in shape, you might want to check out
our Fitness Videos/DVD's .
Featuring Marshall Brown's Basic 5 Aerobics and Kickboxing workouts. The
Basic 5 workout is for everybody with moves that are not complicated or
choreographed. The Kickboxing is a lot more of a challenge and some basic
karate knowledge is needed for maximum benefits. Check

To
get yourself and the kids motivated outside, I developed "The
Gamut"™. It is a proven tool to build leg muscles and
coordination even up to professional levels. Kids can't resist it and
exercise becomes play. The construction is such that there is very little
chance of injury as it can be placed on any level surface. We use it
for cross training in our exercise program. We sell "The
Gamut"™ ready to construct or you can purchase the plans and construct
your own.
Denise
has been creating Fine Art Pottery
since 1980. I begin by making my own clay with a recipe formulated for
hand building each piece. After bisque firing, the pieces are glazed with
my own glaze formulas and fired to Cone 6. Most people comment on how
unusual and unlike any other pottery they have ever seen. All pieces are
carved at the leather hard stage to create the depths and recesses that create a
three dimensional quality. Check our Art
Fair schedule to see when we might be in your area.
The
Wood Burned Cutting Boards are a joint
effort. We began creating these around 2001 for family and friends.
These are a must in the kitchen for cutting meats, vegetables, breads, etc. and
are very helpful for setting hot items on. Each cutting board is cut from
1" x 12" pine stock. Including the handle the boards measure
approximately 11" x 16". Then the design is wood burned
on. The finish is complete with a one step stain and varnish which makes
it very durable and lasts for decades. These make great gifts for all
occasions. Special orders are available upon request.
We
use the Note Pad page to update you on our workout
schedule, tips for cooking, upcoming art fairs, students who may have ranked and
a Bible verse for each week. Staying active in the Martial Arts is our
primary objective but we cross train every other day for cardiovascular health
and strength. You may find ideas on the Note Pad to help with your own
routine. We also update you on new ideas for health and fitness.
After
we built our dock, we had to find comfortable and durable furniture to place on
it. We looked and looked and finally found a pattern for Adirondak
chairs that are so absolutely comfortable that you do not want to get out of
one. Ours are made of treated pine and have withstood many storms.
We build and only sell these locally due to the size and the cost of
shipping.
